A Dream I Never Knew Would Come True

A Dream I Never Knew Would Come True

There are moments in life that stop you in your tracks — and this was one of them.

Being invited to share my story on Rogers TV Durham was something I never imagined would actually happen. It has always been a quiet dream of mine to be on television, not for fame, but to tell a story rooted in family, food, and tradition. To have that opportunity come true leaves me feeling truly humbled and deeply grateful.

Watch our Rogers TV Durham interview:

From the moment I stepped into the studio, I was welcomed with warmth and kindness. Anna Huk, our host, was incredibly genuine and made the entire experience feel so natural. What I thought would feel nerve-wracking instead felt like a conversation — and before I knew it, the segment had flown by.

What made this experience even more meaningful was what I was there to share.

Basoli Sauces is not just a business to me. It is a continuation of my family’s story — one that began in my grandmother’s kitchen. Her recipes were never written down, only passed on through watching, tasting, and feeling. To this day, I still cook the way she taught us — with patience, intention, and love.

I often think about how proud she would be to see her food reaching so many homes. The idea that people across Ontario and beyond are enjoying flavours rooted in her cooking is something I never take lightly. Everything I create is done in her memory.

My father said something to me recently that still brings tears to my eyes every time I think about it:
“You wear the hat now.”

In that moment, I felt the weight of responsibility, gratitude, and honour all at once. Carrying forward a legacy is not something I take lightly. It’s something I hold close to my heart every single day.

I am incredibly thankful to Rogers TV Durham for supporting local businesses and for giving me the space to share this journey. And to everyone who has supported Basoli Sauces — whether you’ve stopped by our farmers’ market booth, shared our food with your family, or sent a kind message — thank you. You are part of this story too.

From my family’s kitchen to yours,
thank you for letting me do what I love.

With gratitude,
Pam
